My question is:

Under settings - Safari - advanced - website data

what does accounts.google.com mean?

Is this someone signing into a gmail account?

I have an iPhone 5s iOS 7

Means there is a cookie for that website.

What does that mean exactly?
I understand that once your on a website that cookies are delivered.
But does that mean that someone had to log into a Gmail account to obtain this cookie under their website data?

Or could they just simply go to google.com and it appear under their website data even though they do not have a Gmail account?

Not really sure. A cookie was delivered, maybe your phone was used to login to google by someone other than yourself?

It's on my husbands iPhone. He claims that he does not have a Gmail account but under his Safari website data history it shows accounts.google.com.

Of course checking his normal history is pointless because he deletes that.

If he doesn't have a Gmail account like he claims, then why does this particular cookie show up?

He's obviously up to no good. Divorce him instantly !!

Could be from visiting YouTube or even maybe doing a Google search. I'm not sure if either of those would leave that cookie. You could try doing that yourself and check.

I have tried on my iPhone as well.
The same cookie information shows up as well except when I actually log into my Gmail account using Safari, it shows accounts.google.com and mail.google.com.

But under his phone it only shows accounts.google.com.

So if he was logging onto a Gmail server then it should show mail.google.com but it doesn't.

Does this mean he has a Gmail account or no?

It even could be he went to gmail.com and the cookie was delivered; hard to say.

It means virtually nothing this day in age aside from him using something google related. Google practically runs half the internet so its no surprise to see that on anyones phone.

IMO if something.google.com isn't there then it means that person is actually making an effort to not use Google services.
