So I have an older iPhone 5s which has a ruined LCD. The colours are all messed up and the touch screen is done with. I've found a number of screen replacement kits on Amazon for great prices. My question is: will software cause the screen to respond weirdly? I've seen some articles that Apple put software into iOS that prevented some third-party screen replacements from responding. Is this still in iOS, or did they disable it in an update? If they did that's great for me as I can replace the screen for super cheap and have a second phone if needed.

I don’t think the 5S is affected. You do have to use your original home button if you want touchid to work though..
Since it'll be a secondary phone Touch ID won't really be something I need. But I hope the 5s isn't affected.
