iPhone 5S:

-Quad Core A7 running at 1.4-1.5 ghz per core, tagged along with next gen PowerVR graphics

-13 MP rear camera with improved optics and lowlight performance/ 2.1 MP front camera

-same resolution display with improved contrast ratio/colors/effiency...possible IGZO display?

-Dual speakers

-1650 mAh battery compared to the 1430 mAh battery we have right now

- more efficent LTE/SoC chipset, increasing battery life and cell reception

-latest wifi chipset supporting ac wifi

-NFC/Fingerprint scanner

-possible IR remote in the Lock button?

Personally I think iOS 7 has to be a huge hit and update and the 5S can really shine

Realistically...

A7 chip
13MP iSight camera
LTE World phone (with China Mobile support)
802.11ac Wi-Fi
iOS 7 (it wont a revamp/huge update)
More color options

Anything else is just asking for disappointment.

I'm not buying the Fingerprint scanner and NFC support for the iPhone 5S. I think they will come to the iPhone 6 and Apple will replace the physical home button with a virtual haptic one (they already have patents). That will incorporate a fingerprint scanner and the new design will also enable NFC.

First and foremost, I'm looking forward to iOS 7 more than anything. So, I do believe we will see the presence of Jony Ive this year with a small revamp.

iPhone 5S:

- A7 chip
- 13 megapixel camera
- Improved battery life
- NFC/Fingerprint scanner

iOS 7 is what will determine the new iPhone's success. iOS 6 was a disaster in every single way. Hardware wise, not much to improve anyways.

People will whinge about it being a spec bump :D

And it will still be Apple's best selling iPhone :p

I predict..

-Revied SoC, A7 or a tweaked A6.
-Possible RAM bump
-Small change in camera optics, maybe better low light performance, doubtful increase in MP
-No NFC or finger print scanner.
-Newer LTE chip that brings battery life improvements

Overall, the usual "speed" bump with nothing hugely different.

iOS 7 maybe the big change with Jony Ive behind the wheel, which will be the exciting part.

To be candid, I do truly think that the hardware is robust but there could be some imagination with iOS 7 via Jonny's so called magic!

I do not see a RAM bump in iPhone 2013 edition (currently at 1gb)

Android has been stuck at 2GB RAM for the past year. Even the newest GS4 has same 2GB RAM (maybe bumped from DDR2 to DDR3) since USA GS3 release early summer 2012.

I think Apple will focus on the camera a lot. The iPhone 5's camera for all intense purposes is almost the same as the 4 S except its faster due to the A6 processor. Don't Count on megapixels. The size of the lens matters most.

What iPhone needs is a file management system. I use good reader to store my PDFs and office documents so I can re email them out. But we need a native file management system.

serious question? What is the point of wifi AC when 90% of people are not even gettings speeds provided by their ISP that are slowed by N?

I read this rumor somewhere. What would Apple use if the A7 wasn't ready?

They were talking about the chip being made in 20nm...the first gen A7 chip will be built on 28nm process

I mostly agree, however I do not see the China Mobile Support yet, they still have not worked out a deal bc CM wants more kick backs from Apple.

Not Sure if A7 will hit, but it will be a must have in order to differentiate them from the IP5

I think iOS 7 will be a bump with some silly Siri feature, but it will still look the boring old same as it has since 2007

if it doesn't have a larger screen, it's a non-starter!

Still using my iPhone 4 and waited to see the iPhone 5 .... blah!!!

Samsung just announced the Galaxy S4 - saw the highlights .... blah !!!

C'mon Apple, many people want a larger screen but don't want to use a non-Apple phone !!!!!

Are u in the USA? If u have iPhone on contract? And still using iPhone 4?

If it isn't a serious upgrade then I'll have to get an S4, as it looks amazing.

This next phone will be a big indicator of future upgrading trends in my opinion, as the last three upgrades (4, 4S & 5) have been pretty minimal.

Predictions:

1. Same size screen. Thank goodness

2. Bump up in speed slightly

3. Bump up in spec's to the camera with a better sensor. No need for more MP

4. Improved iOS

5. Same amount of memory

6. Same two colors (White & Black)

7. Improved antenna for cellular reception

In the US .... iPhone4 and NO CONTRACT !!!

Until Apple comes out with a phone that meets my needs, I will continue with the iPhone 4 and NO CONTRACT !!!

Why tie myself down with an iPhone5 that honestly won't do more for me than the iPhone 4 already does under CONTRACT.

That's inhibits what I can do should a new phone come out that meets my needs.

Having the flexibility of NO CONTRACT, overrides any minuscule increase in benefit an iPone 4S or 5 might give me.

One thing that turns me off about the S4 - that 'no touch wave your finger over the screen bit'.

I can see too many accidental screen movements because I moved my hand over the screen not wanting to do anything other than reach for something away from the phone.

I do like the larger screen of the S4 so if that touch less feature can be disabled .... hmmmmm!

I'm with you on that. I was sorely disappointed way back when the 4 came out and HTC was already introducing 4.3" screens. I just recently bought a new 4S because the 5 only went taller and what a wasted effort that was.

My prediction for the 5S:
spec bump and a hand full of more things I won't use like Siri, Newstand, Passbook and Facetime. I could even live with the same ol' OS, just go larger and drop the 16:9 screen.
(not like I expect that to happen, mind you)

Scroll by twitching your nose
Turn off phone by blowing on it
Tilt to adjust brightness
Spin to reset to defaults
Drop to turn off
Will automatically take a photo when held at 90 degrees and 1 foot away from face

Oh wait...sorry those are features for the upcoming Galaxy SV

:p
