My Galaxy crapped out with the vibrator and the battery, so I was offered the HTC One M8 and the iPhone 5S as replacements. Is the 5S still viable at this point? I feel like the Apple Pay features are only on the iWatch and 6/6+. I am used to a 1080p display with good battery life as well. I feel like the HTC has a nice build and speakers, but the camera sucks and the software is implemented well in some areas while failing in other areas.

No

Take the M8, its a superior phone. Or get the 5s, sell it for 300-400.00 if you can get that and toss up another couple hundred for the 6!

So all I am missing out on a few things like the OIS + camera upgrades, NFC, 720p or 1080p display, bigger screen?

There is nothing wrong with the iPhone 5s, heck I am still on a 5. My wife upgraded to the 6, but I am happy with my 5 for a while longer.

^^^ This. Still using my pre-ordered, launch day delivered, iPhone 5 64GB in Black/Slate. Works just fine, does what I want.

Then 5s is a great and very fast phone. It will last as long as the 4s has...because the 4s at the time was a very capable phone as well

Well, 16 GB is the only model they offered me. I feel like 16 is not enough these days. I'll try to negotiate it to a 32 GB one.

The 5S is very fast on iOS 8. I'm putting off my upgrade to a 6 partially because of that reason.

I'd be fine with taking it as a new phone. But yeah. Try to get 32 gigs out of them!

The iPhone 6 is basically an iPhone 5S with a bigger screen, so if you don't mind the smaller screen (or actually prefer if) then the 5S is a no brainer.

The A7 is not much slower than the A8. It has touch ID, a beautiful design, and 16:9 screen. It's still good.

I'll be coming from a 5.2" screen and have been using 4.7+ for the last 2 years.

The killer feature on the 5s is touchID. This is useful now. The killer feature on the 6 is applePay. This may not be useful until whatever phone you get is obsolete. Go with the 5 unless you need the screen, then get a 6s or 7 when ready.

Heck yes.

I will be keeping my 5s as long as I can until it no longer works, hopefully 4-5 years with a battery replacement along the way to keep it fresh.

I love the 5s. The tech specs obviously are not up to the 6. But for design I think the 5s is better. I wish they'd been boring and smooshed out the 5s to these sizes. I'd have no issue with a huge 5s.

5S is a great phone that you won't regret having. I'd have be happy with keeping mine if I couldn't have gotten the 6, believe me.

That's a big problem even if you install only a few apps. Most of us have pictures or videos we take.

16GB with about 12-13GB usable space on the 5S. Remember just to install iOS8 u need like 6-7GB free space as well.

The biggest factor is the size of the phone. If you're happy with the 5S then I would go for it. And by happy, I mean you PREFER it over the bigger phones.

Agreed. I plan on getting the 6 Plus as soon as I can, but I don't feel the need to stay up late to place orders or wake up early to stand in a line to get it. Honestly, Apple has done a good job on iOS 8 considering it runs pretty well on my iPhone 5. I don't mind waiting a bit for a new phone.

I love my 5s and i plan on keeping it. I love the size and how compact it fits in my hand. I have small hands so the 6 would take some getting used to.. it's still fast especially on ios 8 and still an awesome phone.
