Hi,

I bought a new iPhone 6 plus and figured I would sell my old iPhone 5s. I contacted my carrier and they approved my unlocking request but said I need to do this:

Step 1: Insert a Non Three SIM card into the phone
Step 2: Turn handset on
Step 3: Connect the phone to iTunes
Step 4: Restore the software

I cannot do this because I do not have another SIM card and I will not buy one for this reason only. I need to unlock it as the resell value is better unlocked. Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks for your help - if this thread is in the wrong part of the forum I apologise in advance.

Grab a friends sim. Though you no longer have to insert a different sim to unlock the phone.

I think I solved it myself, I did a full reset, connected it to my Mac and iTunes launched and said "Congratulations, you have unlocked your iPhone"

Cheers!
