Hi all,

My iPhone 5s was soaked in a hot tub and was completely dead. After a few months I plugged it in and it actually came on but was stuck in a reboot loop. I restored in iTunes and got an error stating the battery was faulty so I had the battery replaced - the phone was working fine.

Today I went to use my phone and it was stuck in a reboot loop again, apple logo then red screen then apple logo over and over...

After trying to restore in iTunes a few times and failing it suddenly started working again and has been fine now for hours.... does anyone have experience of using a previously water damaged iPhone with success or is this a sign to give it up?

Thanks!

My guess is that if water got to the battery, then it also reached the motherboard. If that wasn’t dried out thoroughly, corrosion can result down the line (as Applejuiced stated). Unfortunately, you may need to move on and get a new device.
