iPhone 5S with 8.1 camps on 2.4 wifi

Anyone else notice that their 5S seems to prefer and hold onto 2.4 in a mixed environment with 2.4/5 GHz using same SSID. rMBP transitions fine back and forth between the two bands, preferring the better, faster 5 GHz.

Anyone else or just me? Anyone know how to manipulate preferences?
