si I put my iPhone 6+ in a drawer for a few months. In that time I booted it up once to check something. Charged it a bit and then put it back. I'm pretty sure I turned it off before putting back but I can't be 100% positive.

Yesterday I tried to turn it on and it was completely dead. Charged it up fine and started using it as the daily driver again.

My question is: the fact that it was dead dead when I pulled it out a bad thing? Did j kill the battery's capacity?

All batteries discharge over time. Ideally, of course, you don’t want to let them totally discharge, but it’s impossible after enough time of disuse. It’ll be fine; the effects are negligible. Besides, iOS has battery health indicators now.

Whatever happened to the battery has happened. No use fretting about it. Just check all stored iPhones once month from now on. Try not to store them at 100%. Maybe try 60%
