iPhone 6+ camera not saving photos

I'm having an intermittent issue with the camera on the 6+. About half the time after using the camera, the photo just taken does not appear to have been saved in the recent pics folder or any other of the folders. However sometimes retaking the pic will save the image. I'm not sure if it is a bug in iOS 8 or not or if it is a defect on my handset. It has happened for both 8.0.0 and 8.0.2

Anyone else having the same problem?
