Hey all!
I'm normally just a reader of the forums here but I thought I would share my experiences with the camera since I really love my photography.
First of all, it's a bit of a quick and dirty review ie. I didn't use a tripod or anything. I compared the 6+ camera with the 5 and a Canon S100 since that's just what was available to me.
I was really impressed with the IP6+, I know that Apple said they wanted to focus on quality rather than megapixels but I was really just expecting better performance under low light.
IP6+ Images appeared sharper and colors are more accurately produced. At the same time, the IP6+ camera manages lens flare and chromatic aberration really well and in some cases better than the Canon S100 point and shoot.
Using the 'Manual Camera' app, I found out the ISO for IP6+ topped out at 1852 compared to 750ish for the IP5. Even at its top ISO, images looked completely useable. It makes me wonder why Apple doesn't allow an even higher ISO since its not uncommon to have ISOs of 3200 and 6400 I am going to assume they are trying to maintain high image quality and 1800+ ISOs are unacceptable.
The IP6+ really excels in low light conditions especially when paired with the optical image stabilization and in fact performed better than the compact S100.
Overall, I'm pretty certain it can replace a basic compact camera although it still has a way to go to compete with the high end compacts.
I've written up a full review with samples and 100% crops on my blog for those who are interested:

I haven't really done anything on video but playing around with it, the stabilisation does wonders. I also can't get enough of shooting in slow motion!
