Hi guys,

I've been churning through a few iPhone 6 replacements all with the same issue.
The headphones crackle, songs pause or skip, music is distorted, siri activates and all sorts of crazy stuff when my headphones are connected.

I have tried different Apple EarPods, different brands of headphones etc and nothing seems to fix it.

I made a quick video of plugging my iPhone 6 into my mini hi-fi system and rotated the jack to show you what I mean.

Anyone else have this?

I don't normally notice those kind of things.

but my girlfriend noticed it (headphone jack crackle) and I thought it was just issue with mine AUX jack.

iPhone 6 users here. iPhone 5 also makes a little bit of the sound, but nothing too much

For me when using my iPhone as an iPod I notice it because weird things happen, like Siri will activate or my song will skip. It is like the connection on the jack is messing up the EarPod controls.

Very frustrating to say the least :(

DO you pocket your phone? If so maybe dust or debris has got in the earphone jack hole and is preventing a good connection. This would explain the bad behavior and crackling sounds.

I do pocket my phone, however this started the first day I had the phone. Unfortunately I was called to work out of the country and haven't been able to take it back.

Are people still using headphone jack? After AirPlay, Sonos, Bluetooth in ears? I tried the jack on my iPhone 6. No distortion/crackle.

Of course they are, many if not even majority use the included headphones with their iOS devices.

My 6 also has a lot of headphone crackle.

Neither of my cars have Bluetooth connectivity. I use a 3.5 mm line out.
