iPhone 6 - home screen drop down

I saw on a few videos, all though I can't remember what ones, but it showed them hitting the home button, and the top half of the screen drops down. Anyone got any ideas on this?

Apple calls it "reachability." You double tap (not press) the home button.

I thank you for letting me know what the heck this - to me - irksome thing is. I didn’t think it was a bug, but, for the life of me, I found it ..odd, and now that I know what it is, it has no purpose for me (I guess my hands are big enough, and/or I just use both of them if necessary).
