I've noticed a few times after unlocking with touch ID, the home screen is upside down. (see first pic). It stays that way for a few minutes and then rotates to match the phone orientation. If I open an app, the app appears right side up. If I rotate the phone 180 (2nd pic). The home screen is right side up (but the software didn't rotate it was the hardware I rotated). Opening an app then shows the app upside down. It's like the home screen and apps are locked in a certain orientation. I am calling apple later today to see if there is a fix. Anyone else experiencing this.

Same issue here, really annoying.
My work around is to open control centre and disable rotation. This sets it back normally, but as soon as you enable it again it flips upside down.

I had an issue where my 6+ was stuck in landscape - nothing would fix it, not even a full restore.

I left it for an hour and suddenly it's all back to normal. I'm hoping it was just a software bug.

I had this yesterday, restarting seemed to fix it and it hasn't reoccurred yet. Guessing it's an iOS8 bug.

Needed to do a hard reset to sort mine out, hopefully a software bug that can be ironed out in the next update. Does happen quite often

This was happening to me the first few days of having my 6 plus but it doesn't happen anymore. So many bugs with 8.0! Hoping for an update very soon

Exact same issue on my 6+. There are a bunch of threads on the issue in tge apple community forums.

Only with Touch ID

It seems to only occur when I unlock with Touch ID. I haven't seen the issue with the passcode. I notice it also happens when I have the phone is horizontal as in maybe the hardware can't determine how the screen is tilted. I don't recall it occurring with the phone in a vertical position.

I am not a big fan of all of the "gates", but this could be called "Flipgate" :)

Luckily my issue only lasts for a few minutes.

With this enabled are your apps also in the right orientation?

I see the same thing, but didn't think it was an issue because when I put my phone it my phone I always put it upside down. So when I pull the phone out my thumb is on the Home button. Just takes a second and the screen fixes itself.

Haven't had any issues at all.

My home screen doesn't turn sideways.

Check your Display Zoom setting. My gf turned it on and it disables the landscape home screen on the 6. Took me a bit to figure that one out.

"Display Zoom (iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus)
With iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus you can magnify the screen display. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness. Tap View (below Display Zoom), choose Zoomed, then tap Set."

Another unit here with the same issue.

Also with regards to screen flipping, in general I've noticed an overall decrease in sensitivity since the iOS 8 upgrade even on my iPad Mini Retina. Often a simple 90 degree turn won't activate the rotation until you do it several times. And you can't be subtle about it.

Reset

I did a reset of all the settings and haven't seen the issue in over a day. I'll see if it all remains good
