I only realized a short while ago whilst using my sister's iPhone that mine's listening volume is quite low to the point that it sometimes becomes difficult to hear the other person talking if there is ambient noise, either I wear the earphones or I have to look for a very silent place to entertain my conversation.

Was wondering if there might be any max volume limitation (which it seems not being the case) or something I can check before I eventually send it for service.

Thank you

You can only change the volume of phone while talking on phone,
if you adjust volume while not on a phone call that only adjusts ring and speakers

I do that all the time but still it's not loud enough, wondering if there is any hardware lock
There can be, especially in the EU as I recall. I think there are some volume options in accessibility settings and/or music settings that might be with trying out. Some people I think also had some luck boosting the volume by changing the equalizer to the night setting.
