iPhone 6 Photos Not Showing on Computer

I've got an AT&T iPhone 6. When I plug it in to my Windows PC I can see the phone under portable devices. When I open up Internal Storage, about 50 photos show up in the folder inside. The problem is, I have over 1500 photos on my iPhone. I'm trying to back them up so I can clear them off the phone and free up space.

Any ideas why they all won't show up? I can see them on the phone just fine.
 
Are all of those 1500 photos on the phone located in the Camera Roll? Or have they been synced to the phone from the computer? Is there more than one DCIM folder when you open your phone on your PC?
