iPhone 6 plus - any way to control sound volume without unlocking phone?

With the swipe up from the bottom feature, one can access some functions like turning on/off: Aeroplane mode, wireless, brightness etc. The volume it seems controls only the music player. -- Is there anyway to control the sound volume for calls, SMS notifications etc?

Also is there anyway to customise the apps on the bottom row? like dragging what you like into that area to have direct access eg like Camera+ app instead of the Camera app that came with my camera..
