I think battery is great. I do nothing to optimize, just turn off background refresh for some unnecessary apps. 50% brightness. About 3 hours LTE, the rest on Wi-Fi. What really impresses me is streaming music. It only drops 2-3% after 30 mins streaming spotify or google music and I used Bluetooth to connect the phone to my car.
