I upgraded recently to an iPhone 6 Plus and noticed that when i'm in iMessages the blue color on the messages at the top of the iPhone are shaded in a lighter blue then the bottom half of the screen which the messages appear in a darker shade of blue. Is this normal? or do i have something wrong with my iPhone 6 Plus?

It's completely normal and expected. Simply how Apple designed it to work.

Normal. Nothing wrong with your screen. If you turn your phone sideways and view the messages list in landscape, you'll see the same thing. Just Apple mind-games. :)
