With the 5.5 inch screen of the iPhone 6 Plus, typing is quite difficult with the current, and nonadjustable location of the keyboard at the bottom of the screen. Apple should add the ability to slide the keyboard up the screen just a bit to make typing much more functional, whether typing with one hand or two. Build the functionality and UI exactly like it currently exists on the iPad, when using the undock function usually utilized with the split keyboard, or, more relevant here, on its own.

This would make a lot of sense.

Yes, currently when typing with either one hand (difficult for other reasons) or two hands on the 6 Plus, the phone wants to fall out of my hand(s) forward.

The current keyboard location in portrait makes the 6 Plus top heavy.

Apple might also want to "gain inspiration" from keyboard solutions from other phablet phones. I.e. The ability, in addition to sliding it up, to slightly decrease keyboard size and move it to the right or left.

Yes, 3rd party keyboard can now make the keyboard smaller and move it right or left, but not the most important movement—up higher on the display so the 6 Plus is not top heavy and falling forward out of one'a hand(s).

Apple should build all this functionality into the stock keyboard and not rely on 3 party solutions.

Does anyone here think the Keyboard (in portrait) on the 6 Plus is too low to effectively type?

Does the Plus not want to fall forward out of your hand?

I don't own a 6 Plus but on Android Swiftkey you can adjust the height of the keyboard... I know it's not the same as moving the whole thing up but can't you also do this on iPhone now?

I could certainly get on board with this...

I have a hard time reaching the number button when using my 6+ one handed due to smaller thumb and awkward placing of the button. (Left handed I have much less of an issue due to a long return button in that awkward down-and-away location instead)

It would balance out the phone a little bit more for the keyboard to be moved up... but I could also see the argument about it taking up more screen space and defeating the purpose of having a 5.5 inch screen.

With the keyboard in portrait, the amount of movement up could/should be controlled by the user, just like how the iPad keyboard implements this same function. Add in a small button just like the iPad keyboard.

No. that functionality does not currently exist with iOS, or any 3rd party keyboard.

I find the spacebar in landscape way too tiny so when I write everything.looks.like.this.and.is.very.annoying.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I have the exact same issue, quite often. I would like to do away with the extra keys for a bigger key option in landscape.

I have exceptionally large hands and had hoped to have a better experience with the 6+ in terms of typing. Has not improved over my 5 because of the cramming of extra keys. Predictive improvement has compensated some but not all.

Using the Zoom gives a big keyboard in landscape.

Have keyboard as a floating panel like the one in note4 which you can drag around the screen. I like that a lot on the note 4.

This was definitely one of the issues I had with the 6 Plus, the whole "tipping over" thing when typing in portrait.

This is another plus for Android.

You undock the keyboard by hitting the Swiftkey (123) key and then going to settings. You can drag the keyboard up and down with the tab on the bottom of the keyboard.
