iphone 6 plus proximity sensor

Hi I noticed that the screen lit up today when I was on a call. Moved the phone away from my ear and back and it was still lit. Mostly happens when I get a message or what's app or a call wait. Turned speaker phone on and off and all was back to normal as the screen went off when I was on a call.

Hardware or software? Any one notice this?

Is the proximity sensor covered with anything (case, screen protector, dust)? If it's clear then it may be a hardware issue.

Same here. If the screen turns on due to a notification, it doesn't turn off until after the call. It must be yet another bug in iOS 8.

Yes exactly it only happens due to a notification or a call wait.
