I've had the iPhone 6 Plus since launch and the home button has always worked, but I noticed lately it's been really "soft" and doesn't make a click sound or anything. Touch ID works, but it often takes a while.

I also purchased an iPad Air 2, and the home button is perfect. It's nice and clicky and Touch ID is almost instant.

Would it be possible to get a replacement for the iPhone? The nearest Apple store is around 70 minutes from my house so I'm afraid of making a genius appointment and them telling me there is nothing wrong and sending me home.

Assuming that you don't have AppleCare+, you have a full year of limited warranty from the date your iPhone was originally sold to you.

Perhaps schedule an appointment at a later date - but still within the year - when you also have other reasons for visiting the same town / city?
