My girlfriend's 32 gig iPhone 6 constantly shows the Storage Almost Full alert. She has very few apps and fewer than 200 photos. When she connects to iTunes it shows she has over half of her storage available, but the phone still gives her this alert. She's unable to open her camera because it says she doesn't have room for more photos.

She also has problems sending and receiving texts. At least once a week her phone will fail to receive and deliver texts, yet they show up on her MacBook. Sometimes they don't show on the MacBook until several days later and never appear on the phone.

It regularly locks up and brings up the black screen and Apple logo.

It also charges poorly and will occasionally go haywire and vibrate as if it's receiving multiple texts at once, for minutes on end, although nothing is actually being delivered.

She hasn't updated her iOS in quite some time because there's no way for her to free up space. No matter what she does the phone says she doesn't have enough room for the update. She also can't update any apps.

Her last phone, an iPhone 5s, had the exact same problems and she replaced it with the 6 assuming the problems were just the result of a bad 5s.

She's been dealing with this for over a year now (both phones included in that timespan), and as frustrating as it is she's basically gotten used to it. We've gone to the Apple store and were referred to her carrier, we went to the carrier's store and were referred to the Apple store...

I've searched online but found very little besides people saying "it's your Other storage!" No. It's not. The Other storage is a fraction of her total used space.

Why would this happen with two consecutive phones?
