iphone 6 stuck on red battery screen

the phone was working fine until i restored it to new. Tried charging it but cant get past red battery screen. Registers lghtning cable, also dfu'd and restored on itunes and after it still just went to dead battery screen. been on charge for hours and no dice. Anything else to try?

Restart the phone. Push and hold power button to do a hard restart.
