Decided I want to get a 6+ after having the 6 since launch. I bought it originally on apple.com before it said anything about being unlocked. T-mobile and IMEI.info return nothing when I try to check unlock status. Put it up on swappa but played it safe and listed the carrier as t-mobile. Any advice?

For the love of god...yes

I heard that you need put a non t-mobile sim in the t-mobile phone purchased from apple before you turn it on the first time. So it is not true anymore? even I pop in an old t-mobile sim card before i turn the phone on the first time, it is still gonna be unlocked? thx.

It was never true. They're unlocked, period. Apple's website even advertises this now
