iPhone 6s music not showing in iTunes

I just changed from an iPhone 5 to a 6S. Loaded down the backup and all is sort of well. I have a problem that when I look at the music content [of my phone] in iTunes there is only one song showing, there should be a lot more than that. Any idea what I'm missing here?

Have you resynced your iTunes music library to your phone?

No, haven't resynced it. I don't want all my music on the phone, just a selection of stuff

Select the tracks you want in iTunes and hit sync.
