Where I am
Evening all,

Long story short, my daughter has an LG, on T-Mobile.
Since both her parents have an iPhone, and so do so many family members, I am thinking of switching her to an iPhone (not mentioned it to her yet, or anything like that).

Curious what your opinion is. Switch to an iPhone 6s, or iPhone SE?
Not so worried about screen size, I am more concerned with at least having the latest OS for this year, and even into next.

Thanks in advance for your opinions...

They’ll both be on the same IOS since they share the same processor and RAM. I’d personally get a 6s due to the larger screen and better front facing camera.

In comparing specs, 6S is the way to go since it has a higher LTE capability and MIMU WiFi but you can always have her decide if she prefers a smaller or larger screen size. Both devices will support upcoming iOS 12.

Both will see the same amount of iOS support. I personally would opt for the iPhone SE. It’s easier to hold and you can find those relatively cheap under the retail price tag.

SE seems to be the fashion with young girls. My Neice has one and she’s the same age, my Nephew has a hand me down 6 which he’s dropped and smashed the screen, my Niece who is far more careless hasn’t dinged her SE, my brother in law also said he got it for a very cheap deal. I’d get an SE and stick a nice case on it she likes.

2 girls, 7 and 11. One has the 6 Plus and the other 6s Plus. Both hand-me-downs.
Both love the larger size screen and have hefty cases on them as well as pop-sockets.
Previously, they both had smaller phones 5s and LOVE the larger screens.

6s or a 7. You can probably get a 7 for the same price as you can a 6s after next month. So you might as well wait til next month imo.

A couple of years ago I gave my son a 2GB line for his birthday (we're on Simple Choice, T-Mobile). He was 12, turning 13. His first phone was an 8GB iPhone 4s. Several months later he upgraded to one of our old iPhone 5's (5, not 5s) and I upgraded his line to 6GB (with Data Stash).

Last year for his birthday, because he'd done so well, he was given a choice of taking either my wife's iPhone 6s or my iPhone 6s+ OR a brand new iPhone SE. Those were his options because I was NOT going to buy him a better phone than his mother or I had.

He chose to go with a brand new SE. He will be turning 15 in late October and we will have paid off half the phone by that point. He seems to be very happy with it. He was so excited about getting it that when given the option to get the 128GB model, but having to have it shipped, he chose to get the 64GB model because the store had it in stock.

Personally, I do not believe in providing my children with brand new devices unless they've earned it and he had. He's been very careful with all three devices he's had and I've never had to get one repaired or replaced.

His sister on the other hand, who just turned 10, still has issues handling the iPhone 5 that he previously used.

My opinion is that unless your child is capable of handling a larger device, what do they need a larger screen for? That's what computers, TVs and other larger screened devices are for. Appreciating what you have is a quality that seems to be missing in a lot of kids nowadays.

This is brilliant, thanks for taking the time to share, and give a breakdown. This certainly makes sense. THANKS!

Maybe ask her what size she wants.
