I have a new 6s Plus, which is getting what I consider pretty bad battery life in comparison to what I have read about this phone, and I'm trying to decide whether to deem this one defective and exchange the phone.

On a decent LTE signal (4-5 dots) with wifi off, I loose about 12-16% per hour of constant use. This breaks down to about 1% every two to three minutes. This seems like very high drain on a brand new phone to me, as the phone would be unable to last more than 5-6 hours or so on a full charge with no additional standby time factored in. My usage consists of only Safari, Reeder, Notes, Mail, and iMessage. No games, or anything particularly processor or overly network intensive. If I try to download or update an app, or download music in Google Play, or upload files to Dropbox - things a bit more network intensive - the battery will usually drop 2-3% in less than a minute. This seems really excessive to me, but perhaps it's normal. Can anyone elaborate as to how fast their 6s Pluses drain using LTE and web activity?

Ars Technica's LTE web browser battery test lasted for almost 12 hours at much higher brightness (around 70%). I also keep reading reports from users who easily get 8-10 hours or more of pretty heavy use out of their phones with long standby times, even playing games or streaming media, at higher brightness. So it seems something is amiss here.

Watching an hour long video stored on device using VLC will result in a drain of about 10% on low 35% brightness or as high as 12-15% on 70% brightness.

In comparison to the semi-rapid drain while in use, standby life seems excellent, as it will only drop about 3% over eight hours (although I've seen others claim their phones only drop 1% overnight).

Just for background, the phone has been calibrated with a number of charging cycles already, was set up as new (not from a backup), has been factory reset once, and has all mail on manual, background refresh, and notifications all off. I'm running about 40% brightness, with bluetooth and Hey Siri turned off. I've also taken to closing apps as soon as I'm finished, even though it's not supposed to be required. I don't know why an app like Reeder sometimes says in the battery stats it's had background usage, even though background refresh is turned off. So I just close the app to prevent it.

Thanks for any assistance or insight!
