Does anyone know if Apple stores will still repair/replace the iPhone 6S plus? I can see its listed as vintage but not obsolete and I can book it in for repair with them but I don't want to go all the way to be told no.

I'm going to say no, but not because I know for sure. Just a guess.

I had cause to take a (new to me) 6 Plus to Apple around August of last year (2023) for a new battery. Even though they let me book online and told me that I could get a new battery, once they realized they weren't going to be able to sell me a new phone they cut me off.

It's almost a year since then, I would say that the 6s Plus is in the same spot. For me, I just took the bullet and realized that if I wanted my older phones fixed I'd need to go to a third party. So, I had the battery replaced by uBreakIfix. I've had zero issues.

FWIW, I had the battery on my 6s Plus replaced in November 2021 and I recall I was pushing things then. This is a nine year old phone now (almost).

I can’t say for sure however I had my OGSE battery replaced by Apple in early 2023 when the phone was also deemed vintage. The genius was happy to have the battery replaced and stated that should the phone be damaged, they’d have a new one offered to me at the last official RRP.

This leads me to believe they have new old stock stored away.

I also had my 6S battery replaced by them in November 2023. I have no knowledge if they offer actual repairs on this generation of phone.

Wish I'd gotten your genius! The one I was dealing with only wanted to sell me a new phone. Tried to tell me the LB on my 6 Plus was bad, when all it needed was a new battery. When I proved him wrong by mentioning that the phone didn't have stability issues when plugged in, he all of a sudden could not order a battery for me.

However, I've been told other Apple stores in my area seem to be different so the next time I need to go to one I will try somewhere else. The store I have been going to since 2012 is in a two story shopping mall and sees a lot of traffic.

I have a 6S plus and I spoke on the phone with an Apple rep and that person told me they don’t do repairs on that phone anymore.
But that was that person. Maybe he didn’t know for sure.
No problem-
Just mail your phone or take it toa ubreakifix iPhone repair shop. They’ll fix it. With genuine Apple parts.

Yeah, my experiences with Apple involving their legacy devices have been second to none. I think you were just unlucky that the genius who served you that day had decided unilaterally not to replace your battery and made any and every excuse to avoid carrying out the job. I guess it’s the same in every store, you get helpful/unhelpful employees and it’s just your luck.

I hope Apple continue to at least replace batteries on these older phones as I still use my OGSE and 6S as Wi-Fi only devices.

Maybe Apple will service it if you mail it in. I can't imagine why the site offers service for iPhone 6 if they no longer do it.

If Apple won’t service it try uBreakIFix. They are a national chain and they will use original Apple parts if you ask. The are contracted to do warranty work for Samsung and Google, but they fix iPhones as well. I had the screen and battery replaced on a 6S in the last 6 months by them and it worked out great. My 6S keeps on working, albeit on iOS 15.

Looks like some models of the 6s plus were sold an extra 2 years. Those models are still fully supported.
16 & 64 GB are vintage since Sep 2023. 32 GB and 128 GB models should remain in full support until 7 years after Apple stopped distributing them for sale, which would be September of 2025.
So, if you have a 32 or 128GB model, you should be good for support.

Fingers crossed, I might try my luck. It’s just a spare phone that’s used as an iPod which sadly has a cracked screen, I just thought if I could get a refurb through Apple I’D do it and can be a mint collectors piece lol

I think that was partly my problem with the genius I had when I took my 6 Plus in. I made it clear to him that my primary phone was my 11 Pro Max and my secondary was my 6s Plus. So, a new battery for the 6 Plus was entirely 'just because'. As I explained, his face fell because I guess he realized he wasn't going to sell me on a new phone.

No battery for me then (at least from Apple that day).

i have gotten 6 and 6s battery replaced last year in January. for 6 they replaced the battery but 6s had some issues, so they replaced the phone for the price of battery.

Finally got round to doing it and it was £179 for the new screen. a full refurb model was £363 which I was tempted with but wasn't really worth it.

Guy think we might have 12 months of repairs left with it.
