Hi guys.

I just received my iPhone 6S 64gb space grey today. It's really awesome, but I've noticed that the top left corner of the screen is slightly darker than the rest of the screen. It's not a lot, and it's only visible on a white background, but it's really bothering me every time I'm on a website with a white background or in the Twitter app. It's not very noticeable - my girlfriend says she can't really see it. I've tried taking a picture of it on my iPad, but it is more or less impossible to see the darker area on the picture.

Since the darker corner is so subtly different than the rest of the screen, I'm afraid that my carrier won't take it back for a repair (I can't go directly to Apple because I live in Denmark and there is no official Apple store here).

Have any of you experienced the same thing. If so, what did you do about it?

Cheers :)

This is easily the most common defect on the iPhone 6 and 6S. You can play the lottery and try to get a better display, but since you're in Denmark and it sounds like it will be quite a hassle to do that, my advice is to just live with it. You'll most likely go through all the hassle and get a replacement that's the same or worse.

You're probably right. Maybe I can learn not to notice it. If it gets worse I'll return it. It's just too damn bad, I've had 4 different iPhones in the past and the displays have always looked perfect, which just makes this even more annoying.

So I decided that it was just too annoying to live with this screen. I returned it to my carrier two days ago and they have already sent a replacement unit, which I should receive early next week. Hope this one is better. It was much easier to get a replacement than I thought.

I have that too... I'm on my 3rd and last iPhone. Not replacing or returning anymore. This one only has that defect. Not sure if the Touch ID not working sometimes is hardware or software. I'm pretty fed up, getting my last replacement was a huge hassle so I'm over it.

Good luck my friend! I've been through a number of iPhone 6's and they all have a different problem with the display and once you see it you can't unsee it! I've had yellowing, dark shadowy smudges, coffee stain tinges, dark corners, color temperature shift from a warm yellowish white that goes to a cool blue from left to right all very noticeable on a white background and now some dust stuck under the glass. It truly is a lottery and I still haven't won 8 phones later. Yes 8. 8 phones. I think I've finally given up until the iPhone 7. Apples QC has gone in the gutter. I'd recommend keeping one because you are very likely to get one with a worse or more annoying problem.

Hi! The annoying darker area on the top left or right corner of the screen just appears on almost all iPhone 6s, even on the demo iPhone 6s in the Apple Store! So, it is very likely that you have an exchange and get a new one with the same problem or even worse......I have exchanged my iPhone 6s for four times, and the first three all have this problem. Since Apple changed its screen supplier from Samsung to LG and Sharp, there are almost no perfect screens. What a sad story:( Anyway, wish you good luck.

Absolutely the issue with Touch ID is a hardware defect. No software update will repair it, just the same as no software update could solve the yellow tint issue.

I have the same issue, just that it is not the top left corner, but the left and right sides that have a bluish tint to the screen. It is not so bad as to trouble me, and I have to look really hard to notice it. What I have noticed is that it is not too visible when the brightness is full. So I think I will learn to live with it.

But Apple needs to address it. The fact that the problem has been persistent for over a year (since the iPhone 6) and it has not been taken care of, worries me. Very unlike Apple!

This is 100% completely false. A jailbreak tweak called Color Profiles could take away the yellow tint and make your screen purple if you wanted. Yellow tint is SOFTWARE. So is touch ID. My touch ID on my 6 on iOS 9 is faster than ios 8.4.

My 6 is slightly darker in the top left corner as well. Only slightly though.

I recently went to an apple store to talk to a genius about this defect and a few proposed solutions, namely massaging the area or using a suction cup in the area to release pressure in that area. I was told that since a screen replacement didn’t resolve the issue, it’s unlikely either of these methods would work.

If you’re able to, and if it bothers you that much, I would exchange it for one that isn’t as noticeable. The screen lottery is real, folks.

Maybe I'll get it exchange later next year so i'll have a better chance of winning this lottery..

Who got just the screen replaced? I didn't think they had the parts yet.

The above was in regards to the iPhone 6, which has the same problems with its display. I'd imagine the same is true for the 6s, even with the 3d touch display.

Im on my third 6s, now as i had to replace the first 2 due to various faults (clicking screen, faulty home button).

This one now is flawless, however the screen uniformity is bad unfortunately. The second 6s had a similar issue, but it was hardly noticeable.

About 1/4 of the upper part of the display is noticeable darker than the rest and there is a fingerprint-sized darker spot on the upper left part as well.

Is this similar or even worse compared to your experiences?

I think, ill keep this one for now, order apple care+ and exchange it in the next few weeks maybe.

Dude. I went through 8. Yes 8 iPhone 6's thinking I could get the perfect screen. Never happened. My current (and last because I gave up) has a darker upper right quadrant and a darkish shadowy smudge in the middle right that I can see text dip in and out of when scrolling. Also I have a speck of dust in the upper left hand corner. But my screen's color temperature is consistent with no yellowing and since I've been through multiple replacements and even a new retail box one I can assure you that it will be very difficult to find a perfect screen. But yours looks really bad. I couldn't live with that. Apple is pretty good about replacing but don't be surprised to get something back that is worse in a different area of the screen. The 6/6S screens are really bad this time around. We can only hope the 7 has a better display. Good luck my friend. I would change that one though. I had one like it and it drove me nuts! It's all about finding one you can live with this generation!

Yeas, its a hassle everytime... 2 years ago i went through various 5s until i received a factory new device with no scratches in the aluminum bezel or dust in the camera lense. However, i still needed to exchange the 5s 3 times during the last 2 years through apple care due to the screen popping/clicking issue. The quality control seems to be nonexistent...

Unfortunately, the 2 6s ive had before both had a much better screen uniformity than this most recent 6s, which in turn is flawless in all other regards (home button, no clicking screen, doesnt run hot). I really try to not be ocd about this, but these issues are real... and utterly annoying. My father for instance received his 6s last week - and it is absolutely flawless. It has a perfect screen and none of the other various issues a new 6s could have. So, one can indeed be lucky.

I think, i will demand an express exchange in 1-2 weeks after ordering apple care+ tomorrow. According to my past experience with the iphones 5/5s/6s, apple care+ is absolutely necessary.

Im starting to miss my old iphone 4, which was flawless out of the box on the first try and did run without any problems for 3 years.

My phone also have this problem and the display units have the same problem... I wouldn't recommend replacing now because you're likely to get a display that is almost the same or worse and other faults with the phone... Maybe try getting a replacement some time next year where they resolve this issue... And you will have higher chances of getting a replacement
