My mother sent me a text saying that the teacher she works with is having trouble with her iPhone 6s. It wouldn't pick anything up today as far as signal so she reset her network settings and the phone turned off. Since then it's been sitting on a black screen and the Apple logo will pop up once in a while. It's also really hot. She thinks it's running the latest iOS software but she doesn’t know. Can someone please help me with this?

Here’s a screenshot of the text message
