For everyone with an iPhone 6s what are your suggestions for upgrading?

This phone is for someone who is brand new to IOS, & the phone is brand new from a carrier, so it will be at it's factory setting.

I've read some conflicting reports on battery issues on the iPhone 6s on the latest software.

Just want to see what 6s users are experiencing & is it wise to leave it at iOS 9 or immediately upgrade.

Thanks!

You can leave it on iOS 9 but some apps may require higher iOS version. iOS 12 will be release shortly and it will be better than the current iOS 11.4.1. I would recommend it updating it once it is released.

Thanks! Thinking if I leave it at IOS 9, it should run at optimal performance. And then just wait for 12. Want the performance & battery life to be good for a newcomer to IOS......

Many banking apps will no longer work (are no longer available) with iOS 9, but their websites are usually more functional than the apps anyway, so no biggy. Venmo won't work and you can't use your browser anymore either, so if you're a Venmo fan, you've got to run iOS 11. Pixelmator doesn't work with iOS 9 anymore. A few other apps won't work either. iOS 9.3.5 runs flawlessly on the 6 series. Also iOS 9 has battery info Apple took away in the following versions— cycle count, temperature. That right there is a reason never to update.

Might want to set it up “new” when you install iOS 12, which is 3 steps and large. Should be fine from other even earlier beta and skip 11.

How do you know it will have iOS 9 installed on it? The reason I am asking is because I purchased an iPhone 6s brand new around 8 months ago and it had iOS 11 on it.

Regardless of that, if this person is brand new to iOS, I probably would just upgrade them to the latest so it's not as big of a jump when iOS 12 releases. 11.4.1 isn't that bad.

Why do you think the phone will be on ios 9? Have you confirmed that? Most of the banking apps won't work on that version and many other apps may require ios 10 or higher.

My 6s is still on ios9 but that's entirely because I took care not to upgrade it.

A phone you buy today will not be on iOS 9.

You were right! iOS 11 was the os.

My wife and I have both updated our 6s Iphones to the latest IOS systems as they have become available and have not had any major issues.
