Hi,

My wife has a launch day iPhone 7, and just over the past couple of days, the battery will suddenly drop to 1%. However, it doesn’t actually seem to be at 1% as it lasts for ages, last night I rebooted it, and it showed 36% before dropping suddenly to 28% and sticking there.

Is there a software or battery calibration issue, or could there be an issue with the battery?

Battery health shows, 83% maximum capacity, supporting peak performance and optimised battery charging is turned on.

It’s on 13.1.3 at the moment.

Is there anything I can do, or is it a visit to Apple?

Thanks,
Stewart

Yep, that is the sign the battery has had it. While they are no longer doing $29 replacements they did lower the regular price to $49 for non X/11 models.

My fathers iPhone 7 is doing similar. 100% this morning, he said it was at 50~% at lunch and he hasn't even used it. I am going to check it tonight, but the battery is probably bad. Trying to decide if I want to just fix it with a kit from ifixit or replace it with a new 11. Hmmm.

Had the same problem with my four year old with a recent battery replacement under that recall 6s.
Ran all the diagnostic checks at the Apple store. After the last test we looked at the phone, it dropped 20% just sitting there.
Finally solved the problem by walking out of the Apple store with a new 11.

I'm having the same problem on my SE, both on 13.1.3 and 13.2 beta. I replaced my battery about a year ago, and is showing 93% health. I think it's an iOS 13 issue. I was hoping the 13.2 beta would fix it, but it doesn't. Mine will stay functional on 1% for about 3 hours or so of normal use. But even then the phone won't make it through the day on a single charge, with only a few hours of use.
