I dont want to derail this.. I’m hoping someone has a solution, but...

My headphones with the adapter made my music skip when I updated to 11.4.1 (if I remember correctly) recently. Coincidence?

Not sure if it's the same issue by my iPhone 7 plus isn't being recognized in iTunes (i.e. no new backups) when I plug in the cable

I updated through iTunes. This is lame.
Have you tried cleaning out the lightning port? Have you tried different headphones and/or adapter, if you can? Have you tried restarting (or perhaps even resetting settings)?

Started my phone fresh. Turning on and off sometimes helps for a bit

Highly likely it’s a bug. Hope the solution comes quickly

It’s a new repair phone started as new.

Issues with the mic and speaker and headphones not working properly, which persist when I remove the headphones.

Need to force restart to get it working again

Have you tried cleaning out the port? Have you also tried different headphones/adapter, if you can, to see if there's a difference?
