Recently my GPS tracking has been playing up with MapMyRun, not tracking me properly, turning 5k runs into 20+k runs, telling me I've run 10s kilometres etc etc. I've tried resetting the network, turning location services off and on, making sure location set to always for MapMyRun, soft reset, and now tried two other running apps which both do the same thing.

Today I've just been on google maps and my location keeps flicking back and forth from my current location to somewhere about half a mile away or so.

Anyone know what the issue is, whether there's a fix, or if it just means a visit to the Apple Store?

Any help appreciated.

Other then trying a full reset and restore sounds like the only other option would be a trip to the Apple Store

If it turns 5k runs into 20k runs seems like you'd need a replacement, but don't hope for a complete fix. I've replaced my iPhone 7 three times, and the GPS still isn't good enough to be used for run tracking. I gave up and bought a Garmin watch.

My only feature wish for iPhone 8 is that it comes with a non-crappy GPS again, like iPhone 6 had.

Well I just got a replacement on Monday as it was indeed faulty but haven't been for a run yet, I plan on going this afternoon. The GPS does seem better as before there was a large light blue circle around the blue position dot in google maps whereas now it's only just fractionally larger than the location dot itself. Fingers crossed for this afternoon.

Just got back from the run and everything appears to be OK, fingers crossed it stays this way.
