iPhone 7 in store pickup - what is a "check in window"?

I've always done delivery but did in-store pickup for the first time this year so sorry if this is a stupid question.

My confirmation email says:

Ready for Pickup on Sep 16
Check-in Window: 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

Does this mean I have to be at the store at 8am or else I miss it? Or is this something I do online and then I can go to the store later?

I think you have to be there between 08:00 and 08:30.

Mine is 16:15-16:30, after work!

What if I’m late for my reservation?

Please arrive as close to your check-in window as possible. If you’re late, or if you miss your scheduled time, we may not be able to hold the model you reserved. This means you may have to make another reservation.

So while you possibly could still get your phone later, it's not guaranteed. I'm going to make sure I'm there for my reserved window, given the demand for iPhone 7 Plus black...

You have to be there between 8-8:30am and make sure you check in with a specialist as soon as you get there. They will stand you in a separate line from the walk ins and call your name and pair you with a specialist when its your turn.

The last iPhone I picked up in store on launch day was the iPhone 5. But with the iPhone 5s I discovered the magic of having UPS hold the phone at the distribution center and picking it up at my convenience. In fact, for the iPhone 6 when i picked it up at 7:00 am when the distribution center office opened, the UPS lady looked at me and said "Must be iPhone day". Guess a bunch of people do it.

Since I always ship my phone.. it's fun to track it across the globe. And "fake" freak out when it hasn't left china on Wednesday evening but by logistical magic, it's at the sorting facility in Illinois by Thursday.

Is there any way to track in-store pick up phones?

That applies for a reservation, if you scheduled a pick up and paid full for your phone previously, they should hold it for the day at least...

Check-In Window will ensure that your order is readily available shortly after you arrive. All you have to do is check in with a specialist when you get to the store. If you’re unable to come in during this time window, you can still pick up your order, but wait times may vary.

I have a check-in window from 11:00am to 11:30am. Anyone familiar with how long the wait is to grab your reserved phone and go? I'm using my lunch time to pick it up! Haha!

I can turn it on and set it up myself.

I was going to do delivery, but the dates were into October. Local Apple Store had available pickup on Friday, 16th!

From what i have seen here, 15minutes.. there is a dedicated line for ISPU

I thought all reservations had to be prepaid beforehand for this release?

My CC is fully charged for Friday pick up and the apple rep told me, they'll hold it for 20/21 days since I've already paid for it..?
