For my last two iPhones (5 and 6) I've prepared for the worst, woken up at midnight to preorder, or waited in line all night at a store, to make sure that I got the phones. Both times it was for nothing. Preordered my girlfriends phone at noon without a problem for in store day 1, and when I waited in line, the line was gone in an hour and people could just walk in and grab one. I felt like an idiot both times.
This is in Los Angeles.
So this time I wake up at 6 am to find that there is no in store pick up and deliveries are slipping a couple weeks.
I can't do the delivery because it will ship to the account holders address which is on the other side of the country. So I'm wondering what happened to in store on the day? And how likely is it that they will literally run out of phones before the line goes away?

On a larger note... I didn't think for a second that this phone was going to be in demand. Yeah on this site everyone for the most part wants one but it seemed like the general world hated the phone and didn't feel the need to upgrade. Are they purposely creating lack of product so that those on the fence will take a second look at what could be the attraction?
