iPhone 7 lightning port - white marks?

Good evening,

This evening while plugging my lighting cable into my iPhone 7 I noticed that there are patches or areas of white discolouration inside the port.

The phone has never been in water and the port works fine, no issues with charging and syncing as of yet.

Does anyone else have these white marks inside their iPhone 7 lightning port and are they possibly just marks from the black anodising inside the port wearing off due to the lightning cable being inserted and removed many times?

Just thought I'd enquire.

I have the matte black and I don't see any white marks on it. Just one really little scuff. What color is yours?

And please note I'm talking about inside the Lightning port.
