I picked up an iPhone 7 used the other day. It appears to be brand new. Zero wear and tear and 100% battery health. It’s my secondary phone, because I wanted something smaller for work. Before picking it up, I had no idea about the no-signal bug. It’s the unlocked version with the Qualcomm modem, and was produced in the timeframe where those models are affected. (Produced in November 2016)

I contacted Apple support to try and figure out when the initial purchase was, but they couldn’t answer that. From what I read, Apple will cover it within 3 years of initial purchase. Is there ANY way to figure that out online? I have a feeling this phone must have sat in a warehouse somewhere, due to it looking brand new and having 100% battery health. This wasn’t a phone someone used for more than a week, from my opinion as someone who is ocd about phones and keeps them in good shape.

Just trying to see if I should return it, because I don’t want to deal with the no signal bug if it’s nearly guaranteed to happen. All I know is that I read the Qualcomm model was way better, but no signal bug is a deal breaker.

Assuming it’s not covered, how much does the repair cost? Thanks for any info

It says I’m not eligible for Apple care, but it doesn’t say when the initial purchase is. That’s the info I’m looking to gather. Apple covers the phone for 3 years after the first retail sale. I bought it online from a reseller who doesn’t have that info. I’m curious how it can be brand new (still has the new phone feel) and have 100% battery health, but it was produced nearly 3 years ago.

Most of my phone if not all looks like brand new and with 100% battery health after more than year of usage.

The phones we used for app development testing all look new. some still have the plastic on them.
There used to be scratches by the lightning connector but now cables are just left attached
