Anyone know the sensor size of the camera, it looks to be 1/2"6 or 1/2"7, we know it's sony made
Just when you look at the chipworks teardown it shows a die size of 32.3 mm2 vs 29.1 mm2 for the 6s, also if you look at the 1/2.6" sensor on the galaxy s6 it has die size of 33.2 mm2, thats why i was wondering if it could be 1/2.6" or 1/2.7".

S7, S7 Edge, Note 7 use a Sony IMX260 or Samsung S5K2L1 sensor. Assuming they are pretty much the same, the Sony IMX260 in the Chipworks S7 Edge teardown measured in at 37.1mm^2 You were right about the iPhone 7 camera, it is indeed 32.3mm^2. The 6s/SE camera is 29.1mm^2, I wonder if the difference is because the 7 camera has OIS.

Also, keep in mind that the Galaxy S6 camera was a 16:9 aspect ratio instead of 4:3. The S7 is now 4:3 just like the iPhone has always been
Well it's definitely a bigger sensor and closer to being 1/2.6" sensor than a 1/3 sensor, would 16:9 matter though?S7, S7 Edge, Note 7 use a Sony IMX260 or Samsung S5K2L1 sensor. Really i don't know much about cameras or sensors but 16:9 or ois shouldn't matter when its just multiply the length by the height for the die size of the image plate.Well it's definitely a bigger sensor and closer to being 1/2.6" sensor than a 1/3 sensor, would 16:9 matter though?
Ok so it seems that a 1/2.6" sensor is 16:9 so that is out, but a 1/2.7" sensor is 4:3 and would be in line with the die size of the 7 main cameraReally i don't know much about cameras or sensors but 16:9 or ois shouldn't matter when its just multiply the length by the height for the die size of the image plate.
