iPhone 7 Plus Camera wierd

i have tested one things and found it wierd, i have covered the second camera with one finger which is on the left hand if the phone screen is facing towards me while the camera app is on, and then i tapped on 2x, camera zoom but still i can see the view, even on 10x i can see everything, but when i switch to video mode or panorama, i cant see anything as the camera is covered by my finger,
i am on 10.0.2 is anyone also facing this?

Sometimes instead of using the telephoto lens, it digitally zooms at 2x with the other lens, which is why you're seeing what you're seeing.

If there is not good lighting the camera defaults to the wide angle lens but cropped.
