I have just noticed the past few days that my iPhone 7 Plus' home button will intermittently / randomly feel different when I press it. Instead of the usual click sensation, it will feel like a short buzz or vibration (same duration as a click). It seems to be getting more frequent, but that may be my imagination. It also may have been present since I bought it a few weeks ago, but I don't think so.

Hoping this is software related and a normal occurance. I have already restarted my phone multiple times. Also, I have my home button haptics set to 2. And no, not bringing it in to Apple since I can't reliably reproduce the issue. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hm, just hoping it's not something wrong with the Taptic Engine. Unfortunately, after I posted this, I picked up my phone after dinner and it made a third kind of noise / sensation when pressing the home button. This time it made an audible clunk, and I was able to reproduce it a few times just by clicking the button repeatedly. At a bit of a loss of what to do. Monday is the last day I can return this phone - I have a perfect screen that I'd hate to give up, but between this and the fact that I also have the screen clicking issue, I may have to send it back :( I'd be without a phone, so I may just purchase a cheap 5S to hold me over until September and try my luck with the 8.

I don't like the home button on my 7+ after using a 6+ for 18 months. I too have the haptic set as 2, however, I have not noticed any strange sounds or clicking when pressing it. Might be a good idea to return your 7+ while you can otherwise you may be stuck with it for awhile. Not sure what kind of home button the 8 will have if any. We'll have to wait and see if Apple removes it entirely or has something else that acts like a home button. Don't you just love progress?

True. I guess if I kept it and had to switch it out later on if this becomes worse then I will be losing my perfect screen regardless. I actually love the haptics and the new home button ... when it works correctly.

I know what you're referring to with the home button vibrating. Mine also does this randomly, but isn't frequent. Most times I get a consistent vibration as you would expect and then there is this random time where the vibration seems much softer or odd feeling to put it at best. The Setting for the haptic home button is one I use.

Also, when I use 3D Touch, most times I get a consistent vibration as well, but then there's a random time where the vibration just feels inconsistent or clunky as you mentioned. So it definitely happens with the home button/3D Touch. My Assumption is it's just a glitch or software related. Otherwise, I have not had any consistent issues with it.

Well, I've decided to return my 7+ :( i was so happy with my perfect screen, yet I just can't get over paying $815 for a device thats home button is spazzing out and screen clicks. Bought a cheap iPhone 5S on eBay to hold me over until the 8 comes. Hopefully with a sturdy and quality new design where I don't have to exchange and return endlessly. But not holding my breath.

So, I know this is a weird request, but before I return my phone after getting a perfect screen ... could someone with a 7 Plus or a 7 do one of the two following things?
- Repeatedly press the home button both clicking once and double click. After many tries (I'm talking after doing this continuously for a few minutes straight) I can often repeat the issue of the home button feedback feeling strange as it would randomly through regular use.
- Pay close attention over the course of a couple days to every click to see if it feels differently.
I would really appreciate this! Thanks

Can a couple of people at least please do this for me? I started a return with Apple and have just a couple of more days to send my 7 Plus back for a refund, so I have to make a decision. I don't want to send it back unless there's definitely something wrong with the hardware. The problem happens multiple times a day for me. Thanks

Update: Forget it. It's in the box. Shipping it back tomorrow. Using another cheap iPhone from eBay until I try my luck with the 8 / Edition in September.
