I noticed that whenever my iPhone 7 Plus is full of fingerprints that the display coating has stripes:

Is this normal? I think it has to do something with the oleophobic coating. It's impossible to get rid of those stripes though. I cleaned it with microfiber and spectacle cloths and they disappear for a while but as soon as there are fingerprints on the display those stripes are visible again.

I've never encountered this before.

The only thing I'm reminded of is when I have a dirty iPad screen and I'm using my smart case.

Thanks for your reply. I've also seen this on my friends iPad Air 2 screen but he has the smart case, too, and the lines matched the case. However I don't have any display protection / case on my iPhone. I only use the Apple Leather Case.

Yeah, it would seem as though the coating is only where there aren't any fingerprints.
