Is the iPhone 6s replacing the iPhone 7 until next year or will there be an iPhone 7 release sometime later in 2015?

The answer most likely lies in the history of Iphone releases (new generation releases):

1st Gen: June 2007
3G: July 2008
3GS: June 2009
4: June 2010
4S: October 2011
5: September 2012
5S: September 2013
6/6+: September 2014
Anticipated 6S: September 2015

In short, it appears--based on what's happened since 2007--the 7 won't be released until 2016.

There is currently no iPhone 7 and there is currently no iPhone 6s. Any iPhone 7 would be released in 2016 if there is one. The iPhone 6s is due to be released in September 2015.

The iPhone 6s will replace the iPhone 6.

Generally, the way it's worked in the past is like this: 4, 4s, 5, 5s/5c, 6/6+. Following that pattern you could expect to see the iPhone 7 AFTER the iPhone 6s.

It would be big if Apple skipped the "S" and directly to a 7. The next number has indicated a noticeable change in the past, but rumors are that this will simply be a more modest upgrade.
