Hello Everyone,

I just bought an iPhone 8 Plus (big change from my previous phone, an iPhone 5s) and trying to wrap my brain around all the charging options (Fast Charging, Wireless Charging, etc.). This post is primarily on the fast wireless charger options for the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus.

Background:
I've done some research and watched a few videos around the topic of the fast wireless chargers and the different options:
https://9to5mac.com/2017/10/02/whats-the-best-fast-charger-for-iphone-8-and-iphone-x/

My main questions are:

1. How long does it take to charge a phone from dead (or close to it) to 100% with one of these fast charger options vs. the 5W AC adapter that comes with the iPhone?

2. It looks like the adapter I can get 3rd party, but it sounds like I need an OEM Genuine Apple Lightning to USB-C Cable:

Is this accurate, or can I use a 3rd party cable as well without any harm to my iPhone?

3. Is there a fast charger that everyone recommends that does the job but is also on the cheap side, and won't break the bank?

Thanks in advance for everyone's time and help, it is greatly appreciated.

1. 1 - 1.5 hrs depending on how powerful the charger is
2. you can use 3pp cables with no issue. i use a Belkin currently
3. get the ipad charger. it is cheaper and 5v @ 2.1A delivers a solid, fast charge. slightly behind the Apple 29W but not by much. also, 5v @ 2.1A means you do not need USB-C quick charge-rated cables that are pricier and heftier
