So I've done a bit of, admittedly, light research but have turned up no results. I'm curious what ya'll think about the current pricing. I have a 64GB iPhone 6. Been happy with it and all that, but in my thirst for more power and larger storage capacities I'm ready to upgrade. I'm curious though if the iPhone 8 price will drop any when the iPhone X is released.

What do ya'll think?

Thanks

I think you may see some better carrier trade in offers or discounts shortly after it launches. Looking like the demand for the 8 has been lower than previous releases. They won't release another phone until next year so the best way to respond to slower sales is through aggressive pricing.

I am considering cancelling my pre-order and waiting a few weeks to see what happens pricing wise. I'd gladly trade up from my 6S to an 8 or 8+ if the out of pocket cost is reasonable.

Not from Apple, that's for sure. $849/$949 for 256GB for the 8/8+ isn't that bad. It's a great phone.

Thanks for replies. Just was curious. It seems strange to me to release two phones so closely together like this. Apple's never done this before, have they? Been an iPhone user since 2008 and I only ever remember annual releases of new devices.

Leaning toward getting an iPhone 7 128GB for nearly half the cost. Will still be a hefty upgrade from my current device.

Gives people options, I guess...

If Steve were still around he would probably do a promotional thing where if you buy an 8 you can get an X half off :p

Welcome to Apple. Must be new in Apple environment, I presume?

2 phones (near identical specs) because of very very constrained oled screen availability.

Most oled production going to high profit tv screens. oled screens for small devices are very low margin so most production will go elsewhere. Apple doesn't make their own screens. Most oled from Samsung (iirc) so well down pecking order. Maybe in 1-3 years when there are more factories, hopefully greater yields, oled's will become common. But for now limited supplies so only high end/high profit devices.
