iPhone 8 display has backlight but won't turn on. Screen replacement?

Hi,

I got my screen replaced at a third party shop (never again). The display has stopped working. I can click on the home button and I can see some backlight. The phone works. I can plug it into my Mac and see it in iTunes. I tried resetting and chatting with apple to no avail. No software fix. The phone's display will occasionally come back out of the blue.

Do you guys think that the screen needs to be replaced or can it be a faulty connector?
