So last year I got into the iPhone upgrade program, how would the upgrade work this year? I started paying for it since last December. Also, if I to buy the iPhone 8 outright, can i do that still being on the iPhone upgrade program?

Also, how many can you buy with one 1 apple ID account?

I am in the same boat, and I have no idea how to go about upgrading this year. Oh well, guess I will figure it out as we approach the time to order.

Apple should freeze the upgrade program and wireless carriers should also freeze their subsidies/ installments for limited edition iPhone to control the exploding demands as the limited edition is not their regular line up as it is a special product. The upgrade program and the installment or subsidy can be resumed when the demands stabilize. There is no doubt without upgrade/ installment/ subsidy program, the limited edition iPhone demand is still strong.

By freezing the upgrade program and subsidy should make the limited edition available to whoever can afford it outright. The limited edition is a luxury item that should only be available to whoever can afford it as it is not needed or required to live (not a basic need) and not for entitlement either.

That's all fine and dandy, but they should make that CLEAR before enticing loyal customers into participating in a program that excludes them from the top tier products.

I don't want a 7s as I have a 7. It's 8, or nothing. Also, I find it "cute" that you seem to think that people on the AUP cannot afford to buy a phone outright, instead of just choosing to participate in a program they were offered.

Since we are sharing our opinions, *I* think that Apple should honor their commitments prior to selling to randoms off the street or in lines.

LOL. This suggestion is ridiculous. The IUP is just another method of paying for a new phone. Imagine the outrage if Apple decided to sell the iphone 8 only to customers that can outright pay in full....

Just pray to the Internet gods that you can successfully complete a transaction and actually secure a day one iphone.
