I have the chance to switch from an 8+ (coming off a 7+ and didn't really see any improvement for my usage of the device) to an 11 but wondering what would eventually change for the better since, camera wise, I don't use it if not for snapshots (I use real camera and lenses when the need arises), memory wise I have 256GB and not even 100 used, don't play games or watch movies, basic use, text messages, phone calls bla bla bla, I like the fingerprint to unlock it, don't like the idea of face recognition, is switching worth even if at a very good price point?

Grazie

for your use it sounds like sticking with what you’ve got is a safe bet! the 8+ is still plenty fast & it’ll save you money.

I don’t think so. Not for your use case. I mean let’s all be honest here the iPhone today isn’t what the iPhone of yesteryear was. When the iPhone 6s was released you knew it was a much better device than the iPhone 6 before it. MUCH MUCH BETTER. Nowadays you could be on an iPhone 7 Plus and still be served well for a couple more years.

For your uses save your money and keep the 8+

Based on your use, it sounds like you would not see any benefit except a larger screen in approximately the same size body. Probably not worth it.

If I had the chance to do it at no cost, or very little cost, I probably would just for a bigger screen in a slightly smaller phone. It doesn’t seem like you need it, so I probably wouldn’t if it was gonna cost me much, but the 11 does have some perks over the 8+ if they matter to you (Face ID, the bigger screen, newer processor, a little more ram I think, and, even though you don’t need it, a better camera).

The 8+ is a great phone though, so if none of those things really matter to you, I’d skip the change.

Face ID isn't the end all be all, otherwise there wouldn't be so much clamoring for the 8SE 2.

I just switched from an 8 Plus to an 11 a few days ago. The only reason I did it was because I fancied a new iPhone and was in a position to be able to afford it.

The 11 is a great device but from what you say OP, the 8 Plus is more than capable for your needs.

You don’t need it for sure, and doesn’t even sound like you want it. 8 plus is great phone.

Any current iPhone can handle these requirements, hence no need to upgrade at all in my opinion.

I will figure next week based on the request for the switch, if it is low enough might go for it but feel no need to upgrade, my 8+ still lasts over a day of use (for the use I make of it).
