Iphone advice, I live n Australia.

So I am really keen on getting an iphone and I was going my research, and came across the iphone 4G.
I'm not desperate for an iphone but the sooner the better would be great
Any rough idea as to when the phone is coming out in Aus, this year? Next year?
Should I gets get a 3G? Is it better to wait?

Well, Australia wans't one of the first 8 to get the 3GS so my guess is up in the air.

The iPhone 3GS was released in Australia one week after the US release, on the 26th of June.

which carrier gives the best deals for the iPhone (based on the 3GS?) Telstra is a tad expensive is it not? I'm thinking Optus or Vodafone... any suggestions for a foreigner like me?

In comparison, Telstra is really over priced and has a record for bad customer service, however they have great coverage, easily the best.
In terms of service/reception: 3, Optus, Voadafone etc are all all pretty much on the same level,
I'd recommend 3. They are they the cheapest ( I'm with them) and unless you live in rural areas, coverage is great
