Posting here since I don't know where else to gather inputs - picked up the iPhone Air on Saturday. No issues until Monday, when it started to randomly restart itself multiple times in the AM. Stopped by late morning. Called Apple Support and they ran a diagnostic virtually and said everything was fine. It continued to restart. One time the wifi took awhile to turn back on (greyed out in Settings), another time the haptic was off and it kept showing that it was charging (even though I took it off the charger).

Went to the Apple store and they said there was a motherboard issue. Swapped for a new one. Well, the replacement just did a random restart. I've gotten two 'defective' (most likely) devices, I assume this is a more widespread issue than just me hitting back to back lemons. Anyone else?

Someone on Reddit suggested the same thing. Do you know if this is a software issue or a hardware issue with that new Apple modem?

Could it be a bug in your back up data?
Unless u sat up is new. If it was a bug in download from other Air, (IF you used
Back up from old Air) it’s moved to replacement???

This is true. I'll do a clean install and see if that fixes it.

No. Went and returned today. I had a genius appointment Sunday (tomorrow) but now cannot make it before I leave the country for business travel. So decided to return. Before I wiped my phone I told the employee that he want to pull the diagnostic as I think there's something wrong with it. He confirmed there's an EFFA on the iPhone Air as there's been enough returns/genius support on the Air restarting.

Darn, I was hoping it was something as simple as a bug in your back up. Hopefully your replacement is working now. Has your latest replacement worked ok? Hope so. I hate having to go in to Apple.
lol

Replacement had the same issue as the original device. I opted to return the replacement and wait awhile before trying again as I will be out of the country for about 2 weeks. Going to the Apple Store is annoying for me, but have 2 within an hour via public transit, so it's doable for me, despite it being a bit of a trek.
